A música de "Joy To the World" só foi composta passados mais de 100 anos sobre a criação da letra. Só em 1836, Manson associou a letra à música, e atribuiu o produto final ao seu herói George Fredrick Handel.

Durante mais de um século pensou-se mesmo que a música pertencia a George Fredrick Handel. Contudo os especialistas não foram capazes de encontrar nenhuma ligação entre o compositor e a música.
